human rights don’t matter to me

The postcard is mainly inspired by two questions that we discussed a lot after our journey:

  • How can there be so much information about Human Rights, so many specialized institutions in so many cities in Europe – but when you ask people on the street so many don’t seem to care?
  • What actually makes you act for or think about Human Rights?

It seems to be hard to be aware of the topic of human rights when you don’t experience violations of your own rights. On the other hand, once you experience massive violations of your rights it is very hard to act – this is what we expressed in our picture.

We think human rights can only exist if they are promoted and lived by people, if they become part of our daily consciousness!
